Meet the 2020-2021 Staff

Kayla Rubenstein
Editor-in-Chief, Business Manager, Social Media Correspondent

As a senior, Kayla Rubenstein spends her fourth (and heartbreakingly final) year on staff as Online Editor-in-Chief, Business Manager and Social Media Correspondent. Wanting to make the most of her senior year, Kayla serves as the President of Quill and Scroll, Historian of Rho Kappa and Co-Historian of NHS, while also actively participating in EHS and SNHS. Outside of school, Kayla contributes to Mensa’s publications and volunteers with different organizations within her community. An avid reader, Kayla can often be found with her nose in a book when not working on an article for The Patriot Post or developing a project for iPatriot Post.

Bella Ramirez
Print Editor-in-Chief, Cover Story Editor

Bella Ramirez, senior, is a Marvel fanatic and hardworking leader. Ramirez leads Key Club and French Honors Society with a hope to inspire thinking globally and acting with kindness. She also runs le Congrès de la Culture Français en Floride’s (CCFF) social media accounts and is in charge of international publication Pressing the Future. Her passion for creativity continues through her filmmaking ventures such as “The Adventures of Mister Perfect and Friends,” the charity film with all proceeds going to Project Alive. Ramirez is excited for the upcoming year of The Patriot Post and is honored to lead the print publication to new heights with her wonderful staff.

Zoe Persaud
Assistant Print Editor-in-Chief, News Editor

Zoe Persaud is a senior at American Heritage School in Plantation, Fla. Outside of her responsibilities as Assistant Editor-in-Chief, Zoe acts as the Vice President of Quill & Scroll and Key Club, treasurer of Girl Up and an active member of HOSA. As a third-year staffer and passionate writer, she looks forward to making her final year at the Patriot Post as great as possible.

Emily Anderson
Entertainment Editor

As a senior, Emily spends her second year on staff as both a copy editor and entertainment editor. Outside newspaper, Emily plays violin in the school orchestra and leads Dead Poets Society as president. When she's not at school, however, Emily enjoys writing poetry, repeatedly watching the same movies and, sometimes, succeeding in her goal of reading five books a week.

Jack Shechtman
Opinion Editor

Now a returning member on the newspaper staff, Senior Jack Shechtman is the Opinion Section Editor for the print newsmagazine. Outside of writing for the Patriot Post, Jack has been a starter on the varsity lacrosse team since his freshman year, as well as an active fisherman. Jack is in a few clubs outside of the school and plans on going to college to study Business and Real Estate Development.

Sammy Rosenthal
Sports Editor

Sammy Rosenthal is a senior at American Heritage School in Plantation Fla. and is entering his fourth year writing for the newsmagazine; his second year as the publication’s Sports Editor. Sammy takes pride in being a die-hard Miami Heat and Dolphins fan as well as dedicating his Sunday to watching football.

Kayla Giset, freshman at American Heritage School in Plantation Fl., is endeavoring in her first year on the Newsmagazine staff. As an avid Netflix-binger and book-reader, there is never a dull moment in the writer’s life. If Kayla isn’t studying for an upcoming test, you’ll find her on the ice rink or reading a Marvel comic. She has watched every Marvel cinematic masterpiece at least four times, and hopes to eventually direct a film of her own.

Ellaheh "Ella" Gohari

Ella Gohari, an American Heritage Freshman, is starting her first year as a Patriot Post writer. She is an avid reader and poetry enthusiast who channels her love of words into her work. She has been a part of Science Research since sixth grade, and hopes to combine her passion for writing with her devotion to science. When she isn't researching her newest project or reading a book, you can often find her watching a Marvel movie or scrolling through Reddit.

Nithisha Makesh

Nithisha, a sophomore at American Heritage, is starting her first year on newspaper staff. Besides writing and reading, Nithisha enjoys many artistic hobbies, like painting, sewing and crocheting. She spends most of her time either studying, pursuing one of her hobbies or watching "Gilmore Girls." A total book nerd, she tries to read as often and as many books as possible.

Eva, a junior at American Heritage School, is starting her first year as a writer for the Patriot Post. She enjoys all things literature and is part of many clubs including the National Honor Society, Key Club and Black Student Union. When she is not studying, she is at swim practice or watching Netflix.

Emma Remudo is a senior at American Heritage School and third year staff member of the Patriot Post. Outside of room 9114, she likes to spend her time participating in clubs like TASSEL and FBLA. When she is off campus you can find her watching one of her favorite shows, "Rain," or learning how to cook.

Joseph Richards
Staff Writer

Joseph Richards is 17 years old, and this is his first time being part of the journalism team. Born in Jamaica, Joseph lived most of his life there (13 years) until he moved to Parkland, Florida in 2016, where he would then start attending American Heritage. Joseph plays soccer competitively both for a club (Miramar United) as well as for the school varsity team. As far as his hobbies go, Joseph enjoys playing video games, writing in his journal and watching YouTube.

Diana Adams
Adviser

As the supreme ruler and queen of The Patriot Post, Ms. Diana Adams has taught English and journalism at American Heritage for 25 years and started The Patriot Post 23 years ago with only 4 students. In addition to the print and online newspapers, she advises yearbook and literary art magazine as well as teaches journalism and creative writing. All four publications have won numerous awards over the years. Ms. Adams also advises the National Honor Society and Quill and Scroll Society. She is a member of DAR and Phi Kappa Phi, and has hosted international students in her home the past 15 years. In her rare free time, she enjoys reading science fiction and mysteries.
