APUSH students make one final push

With the newly redesigned AP US History exam being administered tomorrow, many students have relegated themselves to perhaps a quiet alcove of their house to study. However, this past Wednesday evening, many students flocked to Sawgrass Mills Mall instead, not for the Barbie Dream House Experience, but for Mr. Gruskin’s annual AP US History review.

Over seventy students from both Mr. Gruskin and Ms. Milam’s history classes came to the pavilion in front of the Regal movie theater in the Sawgrass Oasis to review 20th century history. After an hour, the group moved inside to the Garden Food Court where Mr. Gruskin went over a mock multiple choice exam with short answer questions.

Gruskin started his AP Reviews over fifteen years ago at the Borders in Sunrise, later moving to the Barnes & Noble. As the number of kids taking AP classes increased, this year, he decided to host the event at Sawgrass Mills Mall.

“I really enjoy. It is one of the highlights of my year. It was interesting to have it in Sawgrass. More kids could come, and it was a different environment. I like bring kids out of the school environment because the atmosphere makes them think differently,” Gruskin said.

Of course, it wasn’t just Gruskin who enjoyed the evening out.

“”I found the Sawgrass review not only extremely helpful but also efficient. I’ll be honest, I had my doubts about how effective it would be given the number of people in attendance and the fact that we were reviewing in a mall–not exactly the most conducive place for learning–But I was wrong. I’m so grateful for Mr. Gruskin’s dedication to our education and his passion for history–he’s the best!” junior Asha Rampertaap said.

“The review really prepared me for the test Friday. I’m glad Mr. Gruskin cares so much about his students that he dedicates his time to helping us,” junior Natalie Valdes said.
