With one last game on Patriot turf, the boys varsity soccer team played against Coral Glades this past Friday, Jan. 24. Being the last game of the season, it was the Patriot’s senior night as well, and the team recognized all of the seniors for their leadership and last year being on the team. Ending the season with a victory, the boys rallied together for one last regular-season game and defeated Glades five to two.

Seniors Miles Walters, Nicholas Coqua and Camilo Espinosa all finished their last game by scoring a goal.

“It was just amazing that I could contribute to the victory on such a big night,” Walters said. “To score and assist on the night made it a very special one for me and my family.”

Juniors Danny Arcila and Michael Jean-Baptiste also both added goals in the win. With a finishing record of nine-four-two on the season, the Patriots will look to pick up the pace in the playoffs.

“Even though we started the season slow with a couple losses, I feel like if we put our heads together and play like a team we can pull off winning a championship for the third year in a row,” junior Nigel Muirhead said.

The Patriots’ next game is Feb. 4 but the opponent is unknown as the district seeding is still undetermined.

Now a returning member on the newspaper staff, Senior Jack Shechtman is the Opinion Section Editor for the print newsmagazine.
