Letters for Better club receives honorary plaque

in News by

The club Letters for Better received a plaque today from the assistant principal of Pompano Beach Elementary School Ms. Traci Porter. Earlier in the school year, Letters for Better ran a book drive for elementary schools that could not afford new books for their students. In her speech to the club members, Ms. Porter said the students felt as though Christmas had come early when they received the donated books.

“I’m really happy [Ms. Porter] came. I originally didn’t know if she was coming or not, but I’m really happy that happened,” Letters for Better president and senior Ian Olsson said. “We really felt, after seeing her come here, grateful that we were able to collaborate with them. We hope to spread even more literacy throughout the community.”
