Mix and mingle

Since a large number of freshmen at Heritage are new students, the Student Government Association (SGA) hosts the annual freshman mixer for freshmen to meet and get to know their peers. This year, the mixer took place Fri. Sept. 7 in the theater during English classes. Freshmen enjoyed a variety of introduction games, including “dance move,” “screaming toes,” “speed dating,” “rock, paper, scissors” and a Kahoot to test school knowledge.

“Student Government hosts the Freshman Mixer as an opportunity for freshman to meet new people and to learn more about their fellow classmates,” said SGA co-president Carrie Kuecks. “We try to make the event fun and interactive through various games with prizes, such as the Chick-Fil-A and Starbucks gift cards that could be won from the rock, paper, scissors battle.”

While new students may be apprehensive about entering a new environment, the mixer provides a way for students feel more comfortable with their ninth grade counterparts.
