The girls softball team currently has a record of 24-2, but it is still not satisfied. Friday at 12 p.m. the team will begin its fifth consecutive run for the state championship. Over the past four years, the team finished with two state championships and one second place finish.

After defeating Rockledge High School 4-1 last week, the team clinched the regional championship and earned its bid to the state finals. The team will take on Land O’ Lakes High School in the semifinal game Friday, May 6 in Vero Beach. Land O’ Lakes has a record of 27-2-1 on the season, setting the stage for a competitive semifinal matchup.

Senior starting pitcher Madison Canby has been on the team since eighth grade and will be the scheduled starter for Friday’s game.

“If we are focused and confident, this should be a great game,” Canby said. “This is what we have worked for all year and we are more than prepared.”

Strong pitching and the potential for explosive offense will be the keys for both teams Friday, with the entire season and a shot at the state title on the line.
