Hundreds of students gathered in the Main Theater tonight to celebrate their inductions into various Honors Societies, recognizing their academic achievements in specific areas of study. Students had to meet certain grade qualifications, service hours, prerequisites and other requirements to be invited into the prestigious clubs.

The honor societies involved in tonight’s ceremony include Quill & Scroll, National Science Honor Society, Student Television Network Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, French Honor Society, Chinese Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish Honor Society, and Rho Kappa. After students receive their honorary certificates, they pledge an oath to the society and commit to the club’s meetings and activities.

“Getting inducted into Spanish Honor Society is so rewarding. It’s really nice to know that my hard work and dedication is being acknowledged,” said sophomore Annalisa Romanenko. To get into Spanish Honor Society, one must maintain an A average in all Spanish classes and complete two years of Spanish.

“I’m honored to be a part of Rho Kappa, and I’m very excited to learn the values of the social sciences and engage in thoughtful conversations about history and the humanities with other students with the same interests as me,” said sophomore Nithya Kasarla, who is also a member of Mu Alpha Theta. To get into Rho Kappa, one must maintain a 4.5 GPA in five semesters of AP Social Studies courses.

“I work so hard to get to where I am with my grades today, so I am proud of myself and everyone else who was able to achieve academic excellence and get into an Honor Society,” said Kasarla.
