Suganth Kannan is named class of 2017’s Valedictorian

Third period, Feb. 14 was an ordinary class for senior Suganth Kannan until he was called into principal Mrs. Elise Blum’s office around 10 a.m.. There, he was notified that he had the highest GPA in his class, a 6.03, earning him the title of Valedictorian of the class of 2017.

Kannan does not only strive to be successful through his academics, but also through his extracurriculars. He is the president of the Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy, a member of Mu Alpha Theta, a member of National Honor Society and volunteers both inside and outside of school. One of his volunteer projects was introducing STEM to the local community through the Global STEM Alliance. He is also a Broward County Silver Knight nominee for the General Scholarship category.

Kannan said he’s excited to speak at graduation and is already preparing his speech. Salutatorian Jackson Blitz will also be speaking at the ceremony at the Don Taft University Center at Nova Southeastern University May 20.
