After advancing from districts one week prior, the boys and girls varsity swimming teams competed in the Regional Swimming and Diving Championship in West Palm Beach Wednesday, Oct. 30. Out of the 16 schools taking part in the competition, the girl’s team finished in fifth and the boy’s team secured a third place spot.

Senior Daniel Escobar claimed the Patriot’s highest place finish as he won the 500 Freestyle with a season best and placed second in the 200 Freestyle to move on to the State Final.

Along with Escobar, the list below shows the other Patriots who performed well enough to qualify, many of them posting their season-best times to advance to the State Championship this Friday, Nov. 8 at Stuart.

“I am very relieved to be moving onto states because in the two events I swam, the competition has increased a lot since last year,” junior Olivia Mason, who qualified for states, said. “Since I was able to make it to states the past two years, I felt as if I was supposed to make it…personally, I am very excited that I made it because I feel as though junior year is a very important year for success in regards to college and the recruiting process. I am also excited to see how my hard work for the past year has paid off.”
