The class of 2017 moves on up

Now that the class of 2016 has graduated, it is time for juniors to transition to senior status. Today, the class of 2016 participated in the annual Senior Step-Up Day to officially start this transition.

The rising seniors wore t-shirts that read “It’s been real” on the back. After the activities committee brainstormed possible slogans for the t-shirt, they voted for their favorite. Other options were “We run this,” “Too legit to quit,” “To infinity and beyond” and “Almost there.”

Rising juniors were able to show their creative side by wearing decorated crowns. From hand-created crowns made from newspaper or cardboard, to tiaras, to ordinary Burger King crowns, painted and bejeweled, each became a crown fit for a royal Heritage senior.

“Senior Step-Up Day definitely made the reality [of becoming a senior] set in. I can’t wait to see what next year brings,” rising junior Adrianne Morales said.

“I really liked Step-Up Day. I think it was a great way to get the grade excited for senior year,” said rising junior Seanna Naylon.

“I liked seeing everyone excited about what next year has in store for us,” rising junior Gianna Sanchez said.

The 2017 senior activities committee will continue to meet for the remainder of the year and all of next year to plan more exciting activities for the class of 2017.
