Tikkun Olam hosts annual Hanukkah Party

in News by

During their fifth annual Hanukkah party, Tikkun Olam members spun their dreidels and recounted the age old story of the Maccabees. The party began with senior Rachel Tanchak and junior Joann Battat telling the Hanukkah story of the unlikely Jewish defeat of the Greek army and the miracle of the oil which lasted for eight days. Once they finished, attendees decorated holiday cookies, played dreidel and ate food.

The price of admission to the party was $5 or two cans of food. Tikkun Olam will donate all the cans it collected Dec. 3 to the Sunrise JCC daily food bank, for their kosher section.

“The club’s name, Tikkun Olam, is Hebrew for ‘Repair the world’ so we always have some kind of community service project for every event we do,” said club advisor Mrs. Marisa Behar.
