Wyche forwards commit to UF

Recently crowned varsity girls basketball state champions, junior forwards Taliyah and Tatyana Wyche have committed to attend the University of Florida.

“[UF] has always been my dream school,” Tatyana Wyche said. “I finally decided to commit when I noticed that I had the best bond with the coaches at UF.”

Despite collective offers from East Carolina University, Texas Christian University, Seton Hall University and others, the Wyche twins ultimately decided to remain local at UF.

“UF is not too far from home,” Taliyah Wyche said. “It’s the number one public college in Florida. Plus, who doesn’t want to be a gator?”

While the Patriot stars already have their eyes set on a new home after their senior year, their goals will remain the same: winning another championship.

“I am so proud of the twins; they have worked so hard since being here with us during the summer and during our practices,” head coach Greg Farias. “They will have an amazing experience at [UF] because the twins are good, but they are going to get even better. They will continue to work hard during the summer with their teammates to get even better; the sky’s the limit.”

“I want to start off thanking God for taking me this far,” Taliyah Wyche said in an Instagram post announcing her decision. “Then, I want to thank my parents and my uncle for being there for us and making the sacrifices. Last, I want to thank all my coaches that believed in me. It has been my dream to go to The University of Florida.” (Photo submitted by Taliyah Wyche)

“First off, I would like to thank God, my parents and coaches for always believing in me and being there for me during my hard times,” Tatyana Wyche said in an Instagram post announcing her decision. “I would like to take the time out to say thank you to all the schools that recruited me.” (Photo submitted by Tatyana Wyche)
