Tuesday night MTV treats

It’s about time we had some TV shows that accurately represented our high school lives.

These two MTV shows that returned late September this year are just what your weeknights need. “Awkward,” a relatable comedy coming back for the second half of its fourth season, and “Faking It,” the abnormal newbie to MTV, complement each other for a perfectly twisted Tuesday night.

“Awkward”: If you’ve watched this show from it’s first season, you know Jenna, Tamara, and Jake and Matty from their freshman year drama, parties and pregnancy scares. But now, as the crew approaches the middle of their senior year at Palos Hill High, adulthood is near and main character Jenna Hamilton is growing worried about getting into college. The show is starting to strike in the hearts of current high school seniors, as they go through the same struggles as Jenna.

“Faking It”: Entering its second season, this show is like no other. Best friends Karma and Amy began as outcasts at Hestor High, but found a quick path to popularity–they’re a lesbian couple (and elected Prom Queens). The only catch is that they aren’t really lesbians –at least Karma thinks so. After break-ups, make-ups and love triangle drama with Hestor hottie Liam Booker, Amy starts to wonder if she has real feelings for Karma. The season one finale was a shocker for her, leading to the complicated and comedic season two opener Sept. 23.

“Faking It” is on every Tuesday night at 10:30 p.m., following “Awkward” at 10:00 p.m. Missed the previous seasons and trailers? Check them out here:
