A slice of seniority: senior class participates in pizza party

As Homecoming week continues, the senior class took a (well-deserved) break from the hustle of college applications to indulge in a time-honored tradition: the senior pizza party. Held on the back fields Oct. 15, the event provided seniors the chance to relax and socialize while enjoying a slice of pizza.

“We do this every year at Homecoming for the seniors; it’s supposed to be a class-building activity,” senior class advisor Mrs. Krisynda Cicos said. “I recommended that everybody bring blankets and towels to lay out on the field and frisbees and nerf balls to play and have fun.”

Senior Shreyan Singha enjoyed the pizza party. “Pizza is one of my favorite foods, I love to eat and I love to talk to my friends, so this event was perfect for me,” Singha said.

Senior Defne Pisan agrees. “I had a really good time at the pizza party – it made an already great Hoco week even better,” Pisan said.

Putting on this event required work from all of the class advisors and faculty that put in the effort to make Homecoming week special for students.

“All of the advisors work together for all of the events that we do on campus all year long. They, as well as maintenance, who helps us with bringing out the equipment, bringing ice, bringing tables, etc [sets up the pizza party],” Mrs. Cicos said. “It’s a pretty big team that puts together an event [like this] for over 400 people.”

Overall, the pizza party was successful with over 100 seniors participating.

“With the stress of college applications being seemingly never ending, it was nice to just sit back for once and just eat pizza with my friends. It’s our last homecoming, so moments like these feel extra special,” senior Maliha Daya said.
