Breakups are hard. Resisting the urge to send that final text message to your ex might be even harder.
While binge watching Netflix and spooning down your favorite Ben and Jerry’s pint can help with overcoming initial heartbreak, there comes a time after every relationship when the urge to reopen communication overcomes your friends’ and family’s pleas for you not to.
Whether it’s for closure or to put in the last word, texting your ex while trying to get over them is never a good idea. Thankfully, Princeton graduate Sean Drohan has come up with a solution.
On Feb. 14 the 24-year-old created a public google spreadsheet, blatantly titled “texts i wanna send my ex.” It’s implication being just that – for the public to write out messages they want to send to their exes.
The sheet offers users an anonymous and safe platform to type out that final message they’ve been dying to send – whether it be “I miss you” or “I still have your Netflix account.” Users are also granted a unique perspective of others’ lives who may be struggling under similar circumstances. The layout of the sheet allows views to “react” or leave messages of hope on submissions.
Breakups are hard, but they don’t have to be suffered alone. Rather than turning to your ex, it might be more helpful to turn to the Internet instead.
