Meet the 2024-2025 Staff
As a senior, this is Emma’s third year on the Patriot Post staff, and she’s excited to be the Online Editor-in-Chief this year. Outside of newspaper, she’s Co-President of the journalism honor society, Quill and Scroll, and also the Editor-in-Chief of the Sigma Xi ResearchHonor Society magazine. She is also involved in and has officer positions in clubs like Science Research, FBLA, Model UN, SNHS, Key Club, First Priority, and others. In her free time, she enjoys reading, watching dramas on Netflix, listening to Taylor Swift, and hanging out with friends and family. She’s very excited to enjoy her last year at Heritage!
Zoe Horwitz, a senior at American Heritage, returns to the Patriot Post for her fourth year as the Print Editor-in-Chief. Besides writing articles or designing spreads, Zoe spends her time tutoring younger students through Learn with Peers, playing pickleball with her sister, or spending time with friends. She is also very passionate about lacrosse, as she is a captain of the Patriots varsity girls lacrosse team. Zoe is very excited to be contributing to the Patriot Post.
Nina, a sophomore at American Heritage, is excited to be going into her second year in newspaper. Apart from writing for the iPatriotPost, Nina was Editor-in-Chief for the Expressions literary magazine for a year. She also enjoys playing lacrosse, handball, reading and listening to music. Outside of school, she is part of CISV and YLB.
Alina, a junior at American Heritage, is looking forward to her second year on the Patriot Post. Apart from reporting, she’s very involved in the arts and can often be found creating a new painting in her free time. Alina enjoys ballroom dancing, music, fashion, literature, and mathematics as she is a part of the math competition team, the National English Honor Society, and the National Art Honor Society. Nevertheless, her recent discovery of her passion for journalism has inspired her to capture the rhythm of life at American Heritage this coming year.
Kayra is a rising senior who is passionate about art and journalism. She loves expressing herself and the issues she cares about through her writing and artworks. She holds officer positions in Newspaper, Quill&Scroll, and the National Art Honor Society. When not studying, Kayra loves to read nonfiction books, hangout with her friends, cook healthy meals, listen to music while creating art, and spend time with her cat and family. She is looking forward to her senior year as she prepares for AP Art and new articles to write.
Adiya Mukhitdinov is a sophomore at American Heritage. She is excited to join the iPatriotPost and expand her love for writing. In school, she is part of Book Club, Writer's Circle, TASSLE, and HOPE club. Outside of school, she is involved in her local museum, History Fort Lauderdale and coaches rhythmic gymnastics. In her free time, Adiya is usually playing the piano, playing tennis, or reading.
Olivia, a rising freshman at American Heritage, is extremely excited to be joining the iPatriot staff this coming school year. She has had a passion for writing since she was young and hopes to develop her skills further with her involvement in newspaper. She is involved in numerous competitive teams including Mu Alpha Theta, Mock Trial, and Science Research. She has a wide range of interests, ranging from the fine arts to STEAM. Outside of school, Olivia is an active member of her community, participating in beach cleanups and food drives. In her free time, she enjoys playing the violin, guitar, and piano, as well as developing her artistic skills.
Zain Masood is a senior at American Heritage. After attending a summer program with The School of The New York Times, he is eager to further develop his journalism skills by writing for the iPatriot Post. Zain is also a member of Heritage's Model UN team and helps organize donation drives around campus.
Arsh Lalani, a junior at American Heritage, is excited to join the Patriot Post this year. He is involved as an officer in the Chinese Club and the Science National Honor Society. When he's not chasing stories, he's likely to be found playing tennis or deep in a rabbit hole of YouTube videos and Wikipedia articles. Arsh enjoys studying languages and honing his creative writing. Whether it's though his journalistic pursuits or personal projects, he's eager to bring his passion for storytelling to the paper this year.
Uma is a rising freshman at American Heritage, and she is looking forward to her first year in the newspaper. She is involved in many clubs, such as Speech and Debate, Jr. Thespians, Hope Club, Writers Circle, and many more. When she's not at school, you can find her reading, singing, at play rehearsal, sewing, cooking, watching Netflix, writing short stories, and hanging out with friends. She is so proud to be on the newspaper, and hopes you all enjoy!
Jaiden, a rising senior at American Heritage, is looking forward to her first year on the Patriot Post. In school, she's a part of clubs like Key Club and Future Vets Society. In her free time, she fosters animals, plays lacrosse, and spends time with her brothers. She's very excited to work with the Patriot Post!
Roma, a freshman, is thrilled to be harnessing her love for writing at newspaper. In school, she participates in Science Olympiad, NJHS, Math Competition, and Speech and Debate, among others. In her free time, you can find her baking, reading, watching Netflix, or spending time with her friends. She is very excited to be part of the staff this year!
Sophomore Alex Ngo is looking forward to beginning his journalistic journey as part of the Patriot Post. He also has a love for creative writing, storytelling, digital art, and is part of Writer's Circle. After achieving a second place position in the Literary Fair for his children's books and being awarded an honorable mention in the Butterfly Project for his short story, he's excited to bring his talent to the table.
Junior Yechang Liu is looking forward to exploring a new interest in Patriot Post this year. Outside of creating stories, they love creating art with all sorts of mediums and creating robots with metal and plastic. If they're not making crochet stuffed animals or reading books, you can find them swimming with the swim team. Yechang hopes to bring their love for creation to the Patriot Post and share lots of stories.
Camila, a rising freshman, is extremely thrilled to be joining the iPatriotPost this year. She has always enjoyed writing, and is thrilled to be able to to apply it to newspaper for the first time at American Heritage. Her hobbies include playing volleyball, reading, and binge watching her favorite shows. Camila can't wait to start this new journey!
Daniel is a freshman at American Heritage, continuing to pursue journalism after sparking an interest for it in junior high. He enjoys reporting feature articles about peoples lives and problems in our community that often go overlooked. He is excited to start his first year at the Patriot Post. As well as newspaper, Daniel has a passion for music, sound design, and fine arts like technical theater.
