Joanne is a senior at American Heritage School in Plantation, Fla. As a third-year staffer and second-year editor-in-chief, she loves immersing herself in the journalistic field and writing for her publications. Outside of newspaper, Joanne is also co-president of the English Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta math honor society, where she also serves as the student delegate state secretary. Among the other clubs she is a part of, Joanne is also secretary of the linguistics team and Chinese Honor Society, as well as treasurer for Quill and Scroll. In her free time, Joanne loves practicing her photography and going to concerts.

Student researchers win big at ISEF

Out of the many rigorous programs offered at Heritage, science research is unique. Students begin the developing and completing their respective projects well before the rest of the student body thinks about his or her science fair project. Five science research students had their projects make their way to Pittsburgh, Penn last week to represent American Heritage School and the state of Florida at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Just hit play: #ItEndsWithUs

Since the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting less than ninety days ago, students across the county as well as the nation have worked endlessly to spark a change for better safety and gun policy. Senior Ryan Methot, in collaboration with fellow activists from Cypress Bay High School and Sagemont High School, is working on a video with a new movement: #ItEndsWithUs, complete with interviews from Florida politicians and student input from schools throughout Broward County.   Keep Reading

Students gather during lunch to make their voices heard

Seniors Min-kyu Kim, Zihan Kabir, Zachary Spicer, Alec Chao, Aditya Bafna, David Min and Andrew Bass were busy spreading the word about a safe alternative to the walkout. Only planned the day before, the group tried to notify as many students as possible about the plan for students to gather at the bleachers by the football field during lunch to show their support for Stoneman Douglas. Honor Societies hold annual induction ceremony

Among the dozens of clubs students have to choose from, eleven academic honor societies provide high-achieving students with a chance to be recognized for their dedication and excellence in various fields.
