The varsity boys soccer team began the playoffs with a 7-0 win in the district semifinal against the Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes Jan. 24, which was also senior night.
The Patriots displayed their dominance early as senior striker Landon Lupo netted two goals, including a penalty kick, within the first twelve minutes. From there, it was smooth sailing. Other highlights from the game include junior midfielder Joseph Vinson’s booming free kick and senior goalkeeper Jonathan Gomes’s clean sheet, his thirteenth of the season.
After the game, Lupo, Gomes and fellow seniors Malcolm Tilokee, Connor Salzman and Gerard Cabrera were honored, accompanied by their families.
The Patriots’ next game will be at home Friday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. against Pines Charter. The two teams previously met twice, and the games ended in a 0-0 draw and a 3-0 win for the Patriots.
