The NHS Brain Brawl team won both matches in their Dec. 2 competition, leading them one step closer to the Broward County championship title. The team first competed against South Broward high school, winning 260-45. Their second match was against Nova high school where they won 255-60, “a large margin” according to NHS chairman of the Brain Brawl committee, senior, Jared Shulkin.
“We expected our match against Nova to be challenging, since we’d played them in scrimmage and they’d performed well. However, I was impressed with our team because the outcome of the game was never in question,” Shulkin said.
The next step for the team is to compete against the winner of the loser’s bracket for the South Division title. Previously, the team has beaten every other competitor eligible to win the loser’s bracket. If successful in obtaining the South Division title, they will play the winner of the North Division title to potentially become the Broward County champions for the third year in a row.
