From gourd carving to Starbucks’s pumpkin-spice lattes, the month of October is a beacon of traditions and activity for all ages, especially when it comes to those artistically inclined.
“Artober” is an annual art activity consisting of a series of 31 one-word prompts for artists to build upon. In the past few years, this tradition has gained popularity through social media as a fun way to overcome art block and develop creative skills by drawing daily.
This year, the iPatriotPost will be hosting its own Artober submission activity for all student and faculty artists. Novice, intermediate and expert artists are each highly encouraged to participate in this event. Any appropriate form of artistic media is welcome as submissions.
Below you will find the words for each day of October, following the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI)’s official 2024 Prompt List. At the discretion of participants, we will be posting Artober submissions on the first of November.
The iPatriotPost staff wish you good luck, and remember, have fun.

Each year, SCBWI posts 31 Artober prompts for their world-wide community of creatives. SCBWI says that, “by harnessing the collective power of this vibrant global community, we make the children’s publishing industry more inclusive and elevate the art of children’s literature.” (Photo/SCBWI Official Website)
