Learning from History

Perhaps one of the most popular cliches, “learn from the past” accurately describes what 100 freshman did Feb. 21. The catastrophic event of the Holocaust sparked countless books, documentaries and museums in order to preserve the memory of those lost in this tragedy. One such location, the NSU: Holocaust Reflection and Resource Center (HRRC) offers a visually-stimulating Holocaust experience. Freshmen had the opportunity to visit this memorial Feb. 21. Douglas survivors speak out at CNN Town Hall

One-hundred students woke up yesterday morning, not to go to class, but to march to Florida’s capital and demand lawmakers pass legislation to tighten gun control. Not more than 10 hours later, many of the same students returned to the BB&T Center in Sunrise armed with searing questions for their legislatures. Students gather to spark a change

In fewer than 48 hours, American Heritage seniors Sydnie Rathe, Nicholas Fonseca and Faith Ward organized a school-wide protest for gun control in response to last week’s deadly massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School (MSD). The seniors cited the Not One More rally for firearm safety legislation at the Federal Courthouse Feb. 17 as inspiration for their protest. Keep Reading
