Anticipation was built in the tech world as everyone waited for the reveal of Apple’s new products. That time has come, as Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the launch of many new products at this year’s Apple Event hosted Sept. 9. The lineup included new iPhones, AirPods and Apple Watches.
The iPhone 16 family includes the base model iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro has a 6.3-inch display and the Pro Max has a 6.7-inch display. “By far our best iPhone displays ever,” Apple said at their event. The Pro and Pro Max models come in white, black, natural and the new “desert” color. Base model iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus come in five colors: black, teal, pink, ultramarine and white.
A new button will be added called Camera Control that is on the side of the device and allows users to take photos more naturally. Clicking on it once takes a photo, and pressing and holding records a video. If lightly pressed and moved side to side the camera can zoom in and out and have other settings pop up.
The iPhone 16 will also come with Apple Intelligence. Apple Intelligence will work throughout different aspects of the phone such as language, images, action and personal context. Later on, Visual Intelligence will come to the iPhones. Visual Intelligence will allow users to do certain things, for example, take a picture of a dog to find out what breed it is. For those concerned about this feature, don’t fret; Apple’s senior vice president Crai Fedeighi has already addressed this concern. “Data is never stored or shared with Apple, and independent experts can verify this privacy promise,” Federighi said during the event.
AirPods Pro 2 include new health features, such as hearing protection and clinical-grade hearing aid. User’s ears will now be safe with the new hearing protection feature that automatically turns on across all listening modes. To make this possible, Apple produced a clinically approved hearing test that takes five minutes to complete. After the test is completed, the AirPods Pro’s new clinical-grade hearing aid will be personalized based on the test results and automatically will apply to music, movies and phone calls.
Between the AirPods and Apple Watches, Apple really focuses on health this launch. The Apple Watch Series 10 will be able to detect sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a serious sleeping disorder that causes one’s breathing to repeatedly start and stop. “The condition affects more than one billion people worldwide,” Apple said at their event. However, they are still waiting for clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administrations and other officials.
Some got the opportunity to attend the Apple Event in person, but almost 3.6 million were watching through YouTube. “Without a doubt, our biggest event of the year,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said as he took the stage at the event.
