Costume ideas that serve from iconic to gory for Halloween

in Entertainment by

With Halloween only a week away, the temptation to choose the right costume is on; TikTok and Instagram are filled with ideas but narrowing down your options can be daunting. To help, here are four notable costumes, including ideas for singles and more specifically, duos.

  1. Sabrina Carpenter and Jenna Ortega

Sabrina Carpenter’s latest music video “Taste,” which has received nearly 100 million views, features Sabrina Carpenter and Jenna Ortega in bloodied formal clothing. This duo look is perfect for best friends who are brunette and blonde. To fit Jenna Ortega’s edgy vibe, go for a fitted black bodycon dress with a subtle pattern, black heeled sandals and don’t forget the signature prop: a pink chainsaw. Sabrina Carpenter’s retro-inspired look calls for blue gingham-patterned cropped pants, a red graphic corset-style top and platform sandals. (Graphic/Kayra Dayi)

2. Pirate and Mermaid

Begin the solo pirate costume with a black bandana headwear, preferably with skulls, a sleek black halter crop top and a black mini skirt. Add a red and black crochet-style hip scarf for more personality and complete with knee-high boots for a fashionable and well-rounded look. (Graphic/Kayra Dayi)

The mermaid costume is all about accessories and flowy outfit parts. A maroon bandeau crop top paired with a short skirt and beachy accessories like gold necklaces and a white cuff will really complete the bohemian-mermaid look. Finish the look with white strappy heels to maintain an effortless stylish vibe.

3. Ratatouille

Looking for something quirky? Channel Remy and Linguini from “Ratatouille.” Remy’s costume requires a pair of mouse ears, a gray-toned skirt and a white corset for a fashionable yet whimsical look. For Linguini, grab a chef’s hat, a white shirt, apron, matching white pants, and black loafers—easy to pull off but instantly recognizable. (Graphic/Kayra Dayi)

4. Ken and Barbie

Finally, no costume list would be complete without Barbie and Ken. With the “Barbie” movie taking the world by storm, you and your partner won’t get mistaken for other characters. Ken’s look includes a black Western-style shirt with fringe and white detailing, paired with white cowboy boots and hat. For Barbie, she’s bold and pink: a flared jumpsuit with star patterns, a matching cowboy hat and platform boots will get the job done. (Graphic/ Kayra Dayi)
