Homecoming weekend recap: Game and Dance

in Features by

The 2023 Homecoming Week ended with a bang, as the Patriots won one of the last games of the varsity football regular season. Facing off against the Naples Golden Eagles, the Patriots secured a win, with the final score 38-17. By halftime, Heritage was leading by 31 to 3, scoring 4 touchdowns and one field goal. To bring the total points to 38, they scored one more touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Homecoming festivities were quite apparent at the game, with black and gold being the dress-up theme for the night, in order to show school spirit. During halftime, instead of the typical halftime show, the Homecoming court was escorted out onto the football field with a parent or guardian. Isabel Walchi and Maxim Kochkin were crowned king and queen, with the other senior representatives being Meghan Renaud and Carlos Jusino and Dylan Dueñas and Sarah Aurreochea. To add to the festivities, the Patriot Post sold ice cream for the first time at the game, in addition to macaroons and ice cream macaroons.

The Homecoming Dance took place the next day Oct. 20 at the Marriott Hotel Harbour Beach. The party was themed around “The Great Gatsby” and the roaring 20s. Freshmen through  seniors were able to buy tickets and attend the dance, which started at 7:30 and ended at 11:30. Tickets came with dinner, including pasta and chicken nuggets, and an ice cream dessert, in addition to photo booth opportunities and, of course, the chance to dance and hang out with friends.
