The National High School Model UN Competition (NHSMUN) was the last Model UN competition trip for the graduating class of 2025. The graduating class brought back the NHSMUN Top Delegation Championship from New York, beating over 200 schools at the conference
Twenty-six of the 35 delegates who attended the conference won individual awards. “This was an incredible way of capping off a great season,” MUN advisor Mr. Mark Gruskin said.
The team spent their time in New York visiting Central Park, Times Square, Radio City Chelsea, Little Island and Washington Square Park. The current MUN team met with former Heritage students Trace Binder, Matt Robins and Luke Freed, who took the high school students on a tour around New York City.
NHSMUN also invited former President Biden to speak at the conference’s opening session, and students had the opportunity to submit questions to the director of NHSMUN to ask former President Biden. Senior Anik Bora’s question on algorithm bias and false information was chosen and presented to President Biden, who in response, gave an inspiring speech on the importance of free speech and awareness of media misinformation in the modern era.
