Mu Alpha Theta rounds out monthly competitions with a bang at March statewide

in News by

With the completion of the March Statewide competition March 15 at Nova Southeastern University, the Mu Alpha Theta monthly competitions officially draw to an end.

As usual, the competition consisted of two rounds. One was an individual-oriented competition where students were given a 30-question 60-minute test in their specific category—mu, alpha or theta. The other was a bowl round where individuals in teams of two to four solved a set of 13 multi-parted questions.

Additionally, an interschool competition was offered where students from each participating school were invited to attend a general lecture about Nova Southeastern University and then answer questions about the talk. The team placed second in this category. “The best part was running around the campus trying to turn in the interschool before the other schools,” freshman theta Hasini Chintapudi, one of the students who participated in this part of the competition, said.

Ranking high in every category, each bowl and individual performance contributed to the overall ranking of the team: first. The team finished strong for their last monthly competition of the school year. The next stop is math states.
