Sometimes there is a good purpose behind a party. Pre-Law members organized and attended the third annual Party with a Purpose at Sparez Bowling Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. The party was hosted to collect gifts for foster children at Kids in Distress, a charity that focuses on “the prevention of child abuse, preservation of the family and treatment of abused and neglected children,” for the holidays.
Before the party, labels with childrens’ names and one or two gifts, such as bicycles and books, they wanted were posted in the school courtroom for Pre-Law members to take. The members purchased the gifts using their own money. The gifts acted as members’ tickets into the party, which also acted as a celebration for the members’ efforts.
Over 100 members attended the party, and they collected over 110 gifts. At the party, members bowled and had refreshments including pizza.
Kids in Distress workers picked up the gifts the following week from campus. The gifts were distributed to the children during Christmas.
“I’m so proud of our members for bringing in so many gifts this year. We really hope this will brighten the kids’ holidays,” said Co-President Kaitlyn Seese.
