As flowers bloom and the days get longer, the season of spring, known for growing and rebirth, is upon us again. What better city to experience this and grow than  in NYC? Here are some of the top things to do for your next time in NYC during the springtime:

Botanical Garden Orchid Show

The unique orchid show takes place at the New York Botanical Garden. This flower and fashion event displays  orchids in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. Orchids are displayed from all around the world and the fashion portion features botanical-inspired creations by New York native designers. After the show, most of the orchids are donated to senior centers and nursing homes in the Bronx while some are added to the Garden’s permanent collection

Cherry Blossoms

The blooming of cherry blossoms typically takes place in late March and head into April, depending on the weather. Some of the best places to view these flowers are Central Park, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Sakura Park, Randall’s Island Park and Hunter’s Point South Park.

Macy’s Flower Show

A free, two-week festival that celebrates spring with floral arrangements and gardens? Count me in. The Macy’s flower show is presented at Macy’s Herald Square in midtown Manhattan. Each year, the themes change and the designed floral arrangements go along with it.

Easter Parade 

Easter Sunday, a festival parade takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fifth Avenue. to celebrate Easter. This tradition started in the 1870s, and since, people who show up dress in their bonnets and costumes, some even in 1920s-inspired attire. It is a family-friendly, festive and happy event.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is an event celebrating Irish culture and heritage. It is held annually March 17 and is one of the oldest and largest parades in the city. The parade features marching bands, bagpipers, Irish dancers and different cultural organizations all coming together to celebrate on Fifth Ave.
