Seniors show off their new senior jerseys

After three years of waiting and watching past seniors wear their jerseys on Friday spirit days, the Class of 2025 finally gets their turn at yet another senior privilege. The jerseys arrived Aug. 28, just in time for seniors to wear for the senior class photo Thursday Sept. 12 and for spirit Fridays

“Senior jerseys have been a tradition for spirit Fridays at American Heritage since before I started working in 2008-2009,” Mrs. Cicos said.

The jersey features “Seniors” and “AHS” on the front in a baseball uniform-looking font and on the back “25” to represent the graduation year along with a nickname of the student’s choice. Many students, like senior Aubrey Caprara, wrote their name.

“I wrote ’ZUCK’ on mine because my last name is Zuckerman and my friends like to call me ‘Zuck’ or ‘Chloe Zuck,’” senior Chloe Zuckerman said.

Some seniors took a more creative approach, writing something unrelated to their name but with meaning.

“I wrote ‘Not Defne’ on my senior jersey because people always confuse me and my friend Defne. Defne wrote ‘Not Nesi’ on hers to match,” senior Nesibe Kalb-Karakaya said.

“On my Senior jersey I wrote ‘Mr. President’ because I am the President of the people and that’s what most everyone calls me around campus,” senior Matthew Ruiz said.

”I wrote on my senior jersey ‘SINGHASONG.’ My inspiration was that it just struck me. I was singing one day and realized, wait, what if I make my jersey say “SINGHASONG” since my last name is Singha,” senior Shreyan Singha said.

“My jersey says ‘ARISHARKS’ because it goes with my Instagram username. I made it that name because when I was in fourth grade. I figured that I liked sharks and everyone calls me Ari, so why not,” senior Arianna Borhan said.

“I have ’CHAMONSTER’ on my senior jersey. My last name is Chamon and my friends like to call me a ‘CHAMONSTER,’” senior Luca Chamon said.

Seniors can continue to wear their jerseys every Friday for the rest of the year.
