Patients at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital were welcomed with fun, spooky science experiments Friday, Nov. 1. Seniors Sebastian Estrada, Iris Fan and Hardhik Guntupally engaged children in these various hands-on science experiments to help those who couldn’t celebrate Halloween feel a bit more special.
The Science National Honor Society (SNHS) hosted the event, strengthening the bond between SNHS and the community. The event included simple science experiments, like ice fishing and magic milk, where children learned about density and surface tension. Senior Hardhik Guntupally, Co-President of SNHS, said “The event was full of smiles, laughter, and shared enthusiasm. Volunteers were thrilled to share their love of science.”
The Pre-medical Society also helped organize the event, thanks to shared club advisor Dr. Pulido. With strong connections to Joe DiMaggio thanks to the Pre-Med annual superhero party, SNHS was able to bring their own spin to the yearly tradition of helping bring a smile to patients’ faces. This is the first time this event has happened, with many more events to come. For more information and to participate, please reach out to Hardhik Guntupally or Sebastian Estrada at [email protected] and [email protected], respectively.
