Starbucks offers free post-Super Bowl coffee

The Super Bowl, one of the most-watched programs in American television, took place Feb. 9 for Super Bowl LIX where the Eagles took on the Chiefs.

It’s common for Americans to host celebrations and watch parties as people support their teams. This year, after all four quarters and the halftime show by Kendrick Lamar, the game ended around 10:15 p.m., with many celebrations going longer.

Noting that “a big Sunday calls for a Starbucks Monday,” Starbucks announced they’d be offering a free tall coffee, either hot or iced, the day after the Super Bowl for all Starbucks reward members.

“With the Big Game Sunday, Feb. 9, many Americans will spend the day going big – which may lead to a long Monday. That’s why Monday, Feb. 10, your post-game day coffee is on us. Starbucks Rewards members in the U.S. can stop in for a free tall (12 oz) hot or iced brewed coffee any time on Starbucks Monday,” Starbucks said on their website.

After a late night Sunday and an early wake up for school Monday, many students were grateful.

“I got my free Starbucks coffee before school, and it helped wake me up after I was up late cheering on the Eagles. I am super glad Starbucks did this. My iced caramel coffee was delicious,” senior Daniel Heit said.

Besides reading and writing, she spends her time playing with her dog or tutoring younger students through Learn with Peers, a non-profit organization she helped found in 2020. During her freshman year, she co-founded FALIA (Food Allergy/Intolerance Awareness) at school, a club that advocates for those with food allergies. Zoe also plays lacrosse, as she plays for a club team and American Heritage girls varsity lacrosse team. Zoe is very excited to be contributing to the Patriot Post.
