Varsity boys golf began this school year on a high note, winning three matches and placing within the top two in another.
The Patriots took home a win against St. Thomas Aquinas High School at home Aug. 29, beating them by 24 strokes with scores of 69 strokes for freshman Luke Clanton, 72 for freshman Gabriel Hegerstrom, 74 for sophomore Jackson Kustin and freshman Sebastian Sacristan, 75 for junior Jude Kim, 77 for senior Adamo Ditullio, 81 for freshman Andres Barraza and 86 for sophomore Ethan Fan.
Patriots faced Christopher Columbus High School Sept. 5, defeating them by 30 strokes overall. Clanton and Kim were among the top scorers, with 68 strokes and 73 strokes respectively.
The Patriots played in the 36th Annual Gene Morrison Invitational Sept. 12 and earned second place overall. Clanton placed 3rd overall with 68 strokes, Kim placed 5th with 73 strokes and Junior Leo Herrera placed 8th with 75 strokes.
Patriots took home another win Sept. 20, beating the St. Thomas Aquinas golf team by 12 strokes with scores of 69 for Kim, 71 for Clanton, 75 for Kustin, Hegerstrom and Herrera, 77 for Barraza, 78 for Sacristan and 81 for Ditullio and sophomore Jonathan Mourin.
“We haven’t had the most ideal start to the season so far, but we hope to improve moving forward,” sophomore Jackson Kustin said.
