Halloween is arguably the most iconic fall holiday. Dressing up in costume, walking around with buckets and knocking on doors for candy are rituals which are starkly unique to Halloween. At the end of the night, going through your candy haul can be a thrilling or incredibly disappointing experience based on what you’ve collected.

For senior Editor-in-Chief Emma Delgado, 100 Grand Bars put a smile on her face after an evening of trick-or-treating. “While I love Haribos and M&M’s, I think my favorite candy is 100 Grand because it’s crunchy but caramelly and also the perfect size where I won’t feel unsatisfied, but I won’t binge” she said.

On the other hand, senior Graphics Editor Kayra Dayi prefers a more savory treat. “I love Peanut M&M’s because they’re crunchy and have something extra compared to normal M&Ms,” Dayi said.

Although M&M’s and 100 Grand bars are tasty, some staffers prefer more chocolate than crunch. Junior Print Assistant Editor Alina Sukhovskaya loves Cookies and Cream Hershey Bars; Print Editor-in-Chief Zoe Horwitz and freshman staffer Olivia Chung both enjoy KitKats.

While Snickers remains the most popular candy in America, chocolate isn’t the only appealing treat. Recently, Nerds Gummy Clusters have risen in popularity due to their colorful and eye-catching design. “Nerds Gummy Clusters are my favorite Halloween candy because they’re sour, crunchy, and sweet,” freshman staffer Uma Hedge said. She wasn’t the only one, as sophomore staffer Alex Ngo also enjoys these gummy clusters. For a more iconic pick, junior staffer Arsh Lalani chose the forever-popular Sour Patch Kids, which happens to be my favorite as well.

The advisor of the iPatriotPost, Ms. Diana Adams, chose an oldie but a goodie. Her favorite Halloween treat is Caramel Apple Pops, a sour green apple/caramel lollipop. She loves the sour and sweet combination of the candy.

A few members had controversial picks. When sophomore staffer Adiya Mukhitdinov and freshman staffer Daniel Harper said their favorite was Swedish Fish, it sparked a debate in the news magazine group chat about the tastiness of the treat, and candy corn was a quite controversial pick as well.

Varied textures, flavors, and colors seem to be the things that draw people to types of candy. Whether it’s KitKats or gummy bears, the candy market truly has something for everyone to enjoy.
