*Spoilers for new movie “Paddington in Peru”*
Paddington travels from London to Peru in the new “Paddington in Peru” directed by Dougal Wilson. The movie was released Feb. 14 and features actors from the original “Paddington” such as Ben Whishaw as Paddington, Madeleine Harris as Judy Brown, Samuel Joslin as Jonathan Brown, Hugh Bonneville as Henry Brown and Julie Walters as Mrs. Bird and some new cast members being Emily Mortimer as Mrs. Brown, Carla Tous as Gina Cabot and Antonio Banderas as Hunter Cabot. With the movie being part of the adventure comedy genre, I can say it surprisingly got me tearing up in joy.
Watching the “Paddington in Peru” sequel, I would argue that it definitely reached top-tier levels. From the spectacular visuals of Peru to the discoveries Paddington, the Browns and the Cabots make, the movie is not one you want to miss.
Though it is an internationally-made movie, the movie reached audiences worldwide from kids to adults. Seeing Antonio Banderas was a huge highlight for me. Hearing his voice before seeing his face, I knew it was him. From his debut in “Puss in Boots,” this role of him chasing gold in El Dorado matched up perfectly. And of course, the Browns in their home in London set out to join Paddington in his journey to find out what’s going on with his Aunt Lucy in the Home for Retired Bears. All the signs Aunt Lucy had left in her room directed toward the ancient Incan civilization hidden in El Dorado.
The movie contained unexpected plot twists and overall, it was a beautifully produced movie with amazing actors who clearly put their hard work into making this production work. I would rate the movie an 8/10 because the majority of the movie was wonderful but, I deducted two points due to the tears of sadness that happened.
