Varsity cross country competed at the first Broward County Athletic Association (BCAA) race of the fall season Sept. 4 at Markham Park. The boys team finished first and the girls finished second.

“We are excited about our season. We have a young team, but are very committed to work hard and improve.” said varsity coach Thomas Johnson. “We have two victories under our belt and look forward to adding more to the season record. The boys team came together after their BCAA race to celebrate their accomplishments. “We did enough to win that meet, but I personally definitely didn’t run my best. Our goal is to compete for a championship come November, and the way we ran today, while it gave us a positive result, showed that we have work to do to reach that goal. We have a great coach and a really strong team, and we’re going to work very hard to continue to achieve the type of result that we got today all throughout the season,” junior Hank Nathanson said.
