In a playoff game to keep the season alive, the varsity girls soccer team took a trip to Coconut Creek to play North Broward Prep. The Lady Patriots ended victorious with a 2-0 score Tuesday night, Feb. 16, and look to ride off this momentum for the remainder of the season.
Coming together and bouncing back after their second loss of the season to Cardinal Gibbons 3-1, the girls had a clutch win sending North Broward Prep home in a district elimination game. Junior Savannah Hydes led the team with a goal and an assist, and other contributors to those two key goals were junior Diana Pon with one assist and sophomore Romiana Witek with one goal.
Friday, Feb. 19, the girls head back to play Cardinal Gibbons again in the Regional Semifinals. Hoping to continue down the road towards states, the girls will need to come up big against the Chiefs, as they handed the Lady Patriots one of their only two losses all season.
Moving forward, Savannah Hydes believes the key will be to play with the same style as they did against North Broward, and to never stop hustling. “We are striving to play our hearts out and as a unit,” Hydes said. “Our strategy is to play composed and to feed. We are determined to be strong up top and be able to finish our shots.”
