The 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards ceremony celebrated the iconic female stars in the music industry. Held March 6 in the Youtube Theater of Los Angeles and hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, an American actress, the show featured singer Karol G as the Woman of the Year. Karol G, a Colombian pop artist, made her breakthrough after collaborating with rapper Bad Bunny, and is the first Latin woman to receive this award.
Korean pop group NewJeans was also honored at the show, receiving the Group of the Year award. The group performed their tracks “Super Shy” and “ETA” at the event. Other performances included Charli XCX (Powerhouse Award), who performed an unreleased song of hers, Nigerian R&B artist Tems (Breakthrough Award), who performed her song “Not an Angel” and American artist Victoria Monét (Rising Star Award), who delivered her hit single “On My Mama” coupled with a surprise appearance from her mother.
Other notable award-receivers were Latin-pop artist Young Miko (Impact Award), pop singer Kylie Minogue (Icon Award), country singer/songwriter Maren Morris (Visionary Award), hip-hop artist Ice Spice (Hitmaker Award) and Brazillian singer/songwriter Luísa Sonza (Global Force).
