Looking back at the Spring Fling

To ring in the spring season, the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) hosted the annual Fine Arts Festival and Spring Fling from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 2. Students from all areas of fine arts including theater, dance and band, also came together to host a series of concerts.

The Patriot band showcased their talents, helping to hype up the assembled students. Senior Shrika Kantipudi, who plays the clarinet, stated she was “really excited about how the concert turned out” after all the hard work each student had put in. From 11:30 to 11:45 a.m. the Contemporary Music Club (CMC), a performance-based club for young musicians, took over the black box theater. Singing their favorite hits, members could choose to sing solos or perform with the whole group. (Photos/Antonio Quevedo)

For lower school students, the field was converted into a carnival complete with games, rides and an inflatable bouncy house. Upon arrival, each student received a wristband to wear for the duration of the carnival. (Photos/Antonio Quevedo)

Within the walls of the 3000 building, student artwork was on display in the choir room and in the hallways. Students from all art classes including visual concepts, photography and ceramics were recognized. “I’m glad this is a tradition we do that I could continue being a part of,” said senior Jessica Zighelboim who is in Photography 6. Irene, now a senior at American Heritage, returns to staff as the Online-Editor-in-Chief for her third and final year with the Patriot Post. She loves all things literature and spends most of her time with her nose in a book. Her passion for writing started early, and she is currently the co-president of the Quill and Scroll Society. When she is not studying or writing articles for the wonderful iPatriotPost, she enjoys volunteering and helping lead a multitude of clubs at Heritage. Since 2014, she has worked alongside Best Buddies, an organization that advocates for inclusivity for those with intellectual and physical disabilities. As a co-founder and current board member of the South Florida Best Buddies Student Advisory Board, she plans fundraisers and service projects, including the annual Friendship Walk, which raised almost $300,000. She looks forward to making this year special and as amazing as possible.
