No cooking required: the best places to get a ready-to-go Thanksgiving feast

Thanksgiving break is coming up and while that means students finally get a chance to relax, it can also be stressful to get everything organized for the big meal. Between setting up for visitors, spending time with family members, buying ingredients, and of course, the actual cooking, Thanksgiving can be a chaotic time.

Luckily, many restaurants offer the chance for families to do a little less work. Instead of doing all the cooking at home, these restaurants make convenient pre-prepared Thanksgiving feasts.

Cracker Barrel

Out of all these options, Cracker Barrel may have the most extensive meal options. Their famous Heat n’ Serve Feast serves up to 10 people and includes two oven-roasted turkey breasts, cornbread dressing, turkey gravy, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, cranberry relish and sweet yeast rolls. Additionally, families can choose which sides they would like with their meal such as mac and cheese, sweet potato casserole or green beans. The feast can be picked up either Thanksgiving or the day before and requires just two hours of reheating.

Boston Market

While Boston Market may not have options as extensive as Cracker Barrel, their meals are still large enough to feed plenty. Additionally, the meal is already cooked and no reheating is required. Their “Complete Turkey Meal for 12,” features classic Thanksgiving staples like roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and a choice of sides like spinach artichoke dip or green beans.  For those who have fewer mouths to feed, Boston Market also offers smaller individual meals available for delivery or pick up.

Whole Foods Market

Whole Foods  is perfect for those who may want a less traditional spread. Of course, the classic turkey dinner is available but Whole Foods also offers roasted ham and vegetarian meals. Customers can order online and pick up their meal the day before Thanksgiving. The meals however don’t come with sides so be prepared to make your own at home.

Publix

Another more unique take on Thanksgiving, Publix offers seasonal deals on honey baked ham. Going for as much as 30% off, Publix offers direct delivery to houses as soon as two hours after ordering. Pickup is also available for those in even more of a rush. The ham is fully sliced and comes fully cooked along with a honey glaze seasoning packet.

The average American spends seven hours preparing a Thanksgiving feast. Ordering a whole pre-made meal, or even just a few dishes, from a restaurant can shave off time to allow families to spend more time together. (Photo/Flickr)
