Senior Kevin Schatz appeared on the Today Show Sept. 25 to raise awareness for pediatric cancer as well as Go4theGoal’s National Pediatric Cancer Awareness Day.
Just before winter break of the 2012-2013 school year, Schatz was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer made up of cells that normally develop into skeletal muscles according to the American Cancer Society. From Jan. to July, Schatz underwent multiple surgeries and weekly chemo treatments, all while maintaining his schoolwork.
“It was a fantastic experience to be part of something bigger than myself and spread awareness for cancer,” Schatz said, reflecting on his experience in N.Y.
