As of March 1, four “Hunger Games” movies were released on Netflix for a one month limited time that has fans wondering what’s next for the series.
After an eight-year hiatus, fans have been nourished yet again. The last release of the series was “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” in 2015. That movie ended with President Alma Coin and President Coriolanus Snow dead and with main character Katniss Everdeen refreshing her star-crossed lover, Peeta, on all of their memories. The last audiences saw them, Katniss and Peeta were happily frolicking about in a field with their two children which left audiences only wanting to know more about the history of the Hunger Games.
However, fans will be happy to know that the movie franchise won’t be ending there. According to Insider, a prequel will be coming out in theaters Nov. 17, 2023. The prequel, “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” was added to the novel series in 2020 by author Suzanne Collins. Its movie adaptation will dive into the history behind President Snow when he was a teenager 64 years prior to the Hunger Games era audiences are familiar with. The movie is presumed to be much more intense and harsh than the previous films as the dictatorship in place had existed for only a couple years.
Overall, the “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” will be taking a new approach to the Hunger Games franchise that fans can look forward to this November. that fans can enjoy this November. In the meantime, fans and first-time watchers can enjoy the trilogy until March 31.
