The varsity girls and boys swim teams took off in the FHSAA class 2A, District 11 Championship at Coral Springs Aquatic Complex on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The girls finished as runner-ups and the boys team ended the night in third, as many Patriots advanced to regionals

To reach regionals, senior Daniel Escobar won both of his individual events in the 200 and 500 Freestyle while freshman Emily Robertson came in second in the 100 Butterfly.

In the Boys 400 Freestyle Relay, Escobar, junior Nicolas Rossi, junior Jiehoon Lee and sophomore Sebastian Lares narrowly edged out the victory to secure a trip to regionals as well.

“Moving on from districts and going up this time means a lot,” junior swimmer Daniel Watson said, “but I’m really just focused on next week and doing well at regionals. I always hope that I can come out with the win.”
