Beatrice Kristi Ilejay Laus, more commonly referred to as “beabadoobee,” is a Filipino-British musical artist whose music mainly falls into the alternative/indie genre. Singer-songwriter beabadoobee released her single “Glue Song” Feb. 14 on all platforms.
Initially, the single was written in the back of cars, touring across Australia and Asia. “It’s a heartfelt song that means a lot to me,” beabadoobee said. “Glue Song” reflects on the beginning of her new relationship with lyrics such as “Tangled and lovestruck by you, from the glue,” and “Don’t forget to kiss me, or else you’ll have to miss me.”
The new single also marks a change in the indie rock artist’s discography. “I usually write these songs that are sad. In the past with my writing even when it doesn’t sound sad, looking back, the lyrics usually have been. For the first time this is just me being really happy,” she said upon the release of the new song.
The artist further adds that the production process behind the song hit close to home. “This song feels really personal, and I went to my hometown in Iloilo to film the music video. It’s where I was born, and so that also added another personal touch to the song,” she said. She went on to explain how she feels that her new single brings back memories of what got her interested in the music industry.
Soon, beabadoobee will join pop artist Taylor Swift on her “The Eras” tour, opening numerous performances. She has become a rising musical artist with over 12 million monthly listeners, and her listeners consistently grow over time.
