This past year, Netflix went through a cleanse and discontinued a few Netflix Original shows. Some shows have fans raging that their favorites are canceled, yet shows like “Riverdale” and “13 Reasons Why” are renewing season after season. With all the problems COVID-19 has caused, Netflix isn’t making life any better, Twitter fans claim.

“The Society” is a sci-fi series about high schoolers that return from a camping trip to find all the adults gone in a modern take on “Lord of the Flies.” After its initial release, it immediately spiked views, resulting in a success. Netflix announced in July 2019, that the show would be renewed for a second season. At first it was announced, according to Deadline, that there would be a late premiere in 2020. But then Netflix announced that the show was canceled due to COVID-19 difficulties.

“I Am Not Okay With This” is a coming of age sci-fi show. Based on the graphic novel by Charles Forsman, the show follows a teenage girl while she journeys through high school. It talks about her family issues, friends, sexuality and the possible budding of superpowers. The first season was released in February, and left  viewers on a cliffhanger, yet Netflix confirmed there will be no season 2. Thus fans will be left wondering what happened.

“The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” is a dark retelling of the sitcom “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” though the shows don’t have much in common except for the main characters. The show is about Sabrina Spellman, a half-witch, half-mortal, nearing her 16th birthday. She is forced to choose between her mortal friends or her dark baptism, where she will live her life learning spells and be forever loyal to satan. The fourth and final part will be released in late 2020.

Although fans are sad to see these shows leave, this shift means new shows, such as, “The Duchess,” “Ratched” and “The Haunting of Bly Manor” are on the way. In the meantime, fans can continue to rewatch the released seasons.
