The Wild Mug Café, located at 11476 W. State Rd. 84 in Davie, is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, until 4 p.m. Saturdays and until 2 p.m. Sundays. The café offers more than just coffee; it has grown into a thriving community center where friendships and flavors are forged daily.

The café’s menu includes hot coffees priced between $3.40 and $4.50, teas and hot chocolate priced between $3.95 and $4.24, wild brewed coffees priced between $3.50 and $5.50, specialty lattes priced between $5.25 and $5.75, iced coffee priced between $4.05 and $5.90, empanadas priced at $5.95, sandwiches priced between $9.90 and $10.90 and fresh drinks priced between $4.25 and $6.75.

 Rising seniors Hanna Zhang, Lila Cohen, Roshini Shivakumar and Sarah Kanji recently visited the café to hang out.

Zhang found the café to be the perfect spot for their meet-up. “The Wild Mug seems like a great location to drop by over the summer if you want to have a quick bite or enjoy the positive atmosphere of the place,” Zhang said. “The workers were kind and the food was great with a variety of options that all of us enjoyed.”

Shivakumar, who ate a grilled cheese panini, found the food choices to be especially inclusive. “I’m a vegetarian, so having options to eat was a real good perk,” she said. The café’s location was the only drawback Shivakumar pointed out. “It was almost a 30-minute drive from home for me, so I probably would not make the drive to the café alone,” Shivakumar said. “But I would definitely go with my friends again.”

Annarella Barrenechea, an employee the Wild Mug Café, shared what makes this café unique. “The atmosphere is just so special: the people, the music and the food create a very chill and cozy vibe,” she said. 

For new customers, Barrenechea recommends the iced caramel macchiato or the iced lavender latte as drink options. “They’re refreshing and give a great start to the day,” she said.

However, The Wild Mug Café isn’t just about the drinks, as their menu includes a variety of sandwiches and empanadas. Barrenechea chose the spicy chicken sandwich, the beef delight and the classic margherita pizza as her favorite items. “These are also the store’s top three dishes because they are flavorful and satisfying,” Barrenechea said.

Recently, the café introduced the Reuben sandwich, which employees Annarella Barrenechea and Sebastien Cabrera are excited to prepare for the customers.
