Heritage is home to some of the most elite student-athletes in the nation for virtually every sport – a reality showcased Feb. 2 on National Signing Day. A record 37 athletes officially committed to their respective colleges by signing the National Letter of Intent.
The athletes received appreciation from Athletics Director Mrs. Karen Stearns as she opened the ceremony with a statement congratulating the athletes on achieving their goals after their hard work throughout high school. Most athletes had already verbally committed to their college, but many fans were anxious to hear where senior TJ Slaton, the third best offensive guard in the nation according to 247sports, would decide to play football next year. Slaton had many D-1 offers including the University of Alabama and the University of Miami, however, he ultimately chose to team up again with fellow senior Marco Wilson at the University of Florida.
Senior Kai-Leon Herbert was also closely watched, as he had recently decommitted from his six year verbal commitment to the University of Michigan and later verbally committed to the University of Miami.
For all the athletes, this event marked an important step in each athlete’s journey in both academics and athletics. Below are all of the athletes who signed and to which colleges.
