The NOH8 club, an activism club promoting acceptance and education about gender inequality, eating disorders, LGBT rights, suicide prevention and anti-bullying, hosted a “bake and button sale” Tuesday, Dec. 2 along the canal to fundraise for the UNiTE to End Violence against Women campaign.

The UNiTE to End Violence against women campaign was created by the United Nations in 2008. Its goal is to “raise public awareness and increase political will and resources for preventing and ending all forms of violence against women and girls in all parts of the world.” The NOH8 club’s “bake and button” sale sold a variety of sweet treats, such as cookies and brownies, and buttons that said “LOVE SHOULDN’T HURT.”

“We chose this campaign because it applies to what our club believes in. The topic of domestic violence is not touched on enough, and this is a great way to spread awareness and tolerance about it,” said senior co-president Charlotte Foreman.
