As a school with one of the strongest sports programs in the state, Heritage has obtained some powerful victories throughout the year. Here’s a look at some of these wins:

Football – Heritage vs St. John’s 

The St. John’s Cadets took a trip from D.C. down to Plantation to take on the Patriots for their first game of the season, but Heritage skillfully dominated and sent the Cadets back home with a 45-20 loss. Don’t let the 25 point win margin fool you: St. John’s is a solid football school ranked 97 nationally (compared to Heritage at 55), making this triumph one for the books. 

Girls soccer – Heritage vs. North Fort Myers

Writing about this year’s soccer season would not be complete without mentioning the girls’ win in penalty kicks during the state championship. After going up 2-0 early on, the North Fort Myers Red Knights fought back and tied the game in the second half 2-2. After a double overtime, the game went to penalty kicks, where the Patriots dominated and reclaimed the state championship for the second year in a row. 

Boys volleyball – Heritage vs Chaminade-Madonna

In the realm of boys volleyball, Heritage (ranked 74 in the state) took on the Chaminade-Madonna Lions (ranked 97 in the state) March 12. The year before, Heritage lost to Chaminade 2-3, so this game required more focus and preparation. Heritage had a tough start as they dropped the first set, but this setback only encouraged them to make a comeback, as the Patriots controlled the rest of the game and won 3-1.

Girls lacrosse – Heritage vs Naples

The varsity girls lacrosse team has performed spectacularly so far this season, going undefeated with an eight game win streak. One of these victories was over the Naples High School Eagles. This game was a chance to come back from last year’s loss to the Eagles (14-10) – one of the three losses the girls suffered the entire season – and the Patriots seized the opportunity. Playing fast and fierce, Heritage got their revenge: an 18-3 win.
