The varsity boys basketball team put up a gritty fight against the Somerset Academy Panthers Nov. 29, unfortunately losing 68-60. After being down by 14 at halftime, the boys were able to drop the difference to eight points. 

Sophomore Tao Schreiber was a huge threat, both offensively and defensively, continuously sinking shots and catching rebounds. Juniors Luca Granger and Ian Harvey, along with sophomores Saeed Moghaddam Adames, Amare Stoudemire and Dhiran Nara also each racked up a few points. 

The Patriots outscored Somerset Academy 31-25 in the second half of the game, but it wasn’t enough to catch the 43-29 lead the Panthers put up in the first two quarters. The final score was 68-60 in the Panther’s favor. However, the boys will get another chance during their third game of the season Friday, Dec. 2; they play Cardinal Gibbons at the Kruel Showcase, where they will hopefully score their first win of the season.
